2025 Trustee Election Information

About the EICS Board of Trustees

The Elk Island Catholic Schools Board of Trustees represent each of the following communities where we are blessed to provide our students with Catholic Education:

  • Camrose
  • Fort Saskatchewan
  • Sherwood Park (including rural Strathcona County)
  • Vegreville

In their role as Trustees, the board holds monthly public meetings where policy, funding, strategic planning, and other details are discussed. They are the are goal setters, policy makers, communicators, advocators, and role models for our students and staff.

In total, there are seven positions on the EICS Board of Trustees. The communities of Camrose, Fort Saskatchewan, and Vegreville are represented by one trustee each. Sherwood Park and rural Strathcona County are represented by four total trustees.

Important Dates

  • The Campaign Period is October 31, 2024 - December 31, 2025.
  • Nominations can be filed starting Wednesday, January 1, 2025. 
  • Nominations will be accepted until noon on September 22, 2025 (Nomination Day). 
  • The Municipal and School Board general election is October 20, 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to seek election, candidates must be:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • A resident of the school division for six consecutive months immediately preceding Nomination Day
  • Eligible to vote in the election
  • Not otherwise ineligible

For more information on eligibility and ineligibility, refer to the Local Authorities Election Act and the Education Act.

Some forms are still pending, but most are available now. Please be aware that forms created by the Government of Alberta may be updated prior to the October 2025 election.
