February 2025 EICS Board of Trustees Monthly Highlights
The February edition of the Elk Island Catholic Schools Board of Trustees Monthly Highlights is now available!
This month’s updates cover a range of topics, including:
- Faith Formation: A reflection on John 6 and the importance of trusting in Christ as the Bread of Life.
- School Calendars Approved: The Board formally approved the 2025-2026 school year calendars. It also tentatively approved in-principle the 2026-2027 calendar for Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Strathcona County, and Vegreville (pending community feedback).
- Enrolment Projections: Early estimates indicate 8,929 students are expected to enrol for the 2025-2026 school year.
- Student Transportation: Updates on new initiatives, including the return of the Give A Pencil Car Wash fundraiser and a potential Faithful Journeys program that rewards positive bus behaviour.
- Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee: A newly formed group of staff and administrators will develop an administrative procedure on the use of AI in the division.
- Community Events: The Flying Fathers, a team of Catholic priests who mix hockey with humour and evangelization, visited EICS schools for two exciting games.
